The Phenomenon of Centaurs in the Era of the Internet |
| Nowadays there exist many communities on the Internet whose members call themselves "furries" which means creatures who are a mixture of an animal and a human. This thread of culture is met nowhere else but on the Net. The aim of this list is to gather those who are interested in studying this phenomenon from the cultural and psychological point of view. Why does the Net make people imagine themselves as anthropomorphs? Why did it so happened that the Net became their meeting place? We are going to answer these questions. And the subject of the research we are going to conduct during our informal discussion are going to be centaurs in particular. |

USS Salem K1USN radio club scouting program |
| Low-volume announcements list about the USS Salem K1USN amateur radio club scouting program.
For almost 100 years, amateur radio has been at the forefront of wireless technology. Many of the innovations in radio and electronics (e.g., cell phones and spread spectrum) were pioneered by amateur radio enthusiasts.
The K1USN scouting program introduces amateur radio to between 5,000 and 10,000 scouts each year as a part of their "overnight adventure" on board the museum ship USS Salem. Some of these scouts are excited by the technologies they see and eventually become amateur radio enthusiasts.
This list will be used to coordinate the efforts of the volunteers in this program.
